Overview

Virginia Mason Medical Center is a top-ranked multispecialty hospital in Seattle, Washington. We are part of the PNW Division of CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest non-profit health systems in the US. We are looking for a BE/BC Acute Care Surgeon to be based at our Seattle campus with the possibility of providing cross coverage at our sister hospital in Burien, WA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Primary Role: Management of acute, non-trauma general surgical consults from the ED, inpatient setting, or transfer center at Virginia Mason Medical Center in downtown Seattle. Responsible for daytime, in-house shifts M-F with occasional night or weekend home call. Service is supported by residents. 
  • Secondary Role (possible): Management of low acuity trauma and non-trauma general surgical consults at an affiliated hospital in Burien (~20 mins South of Seattle).
 

Qualifications

  • BE/BC General Surgeon.
  • Trauma experience preferred but Trauma/Critical Care fellowship not required.
  • At least 2 years of experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA.
  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority.
  • Interest and ability to work with medical students and residents.

Details

The section of General Surgery at Virginia Mason performs general as well as specialty operations on patients from all over Washington and the greater PNW. Our group consists of bariatric, breast, colorectal, and HPB surgeons who pride ourselves on team medicine. Our facility includes multiple other surgical subspecialties, critical care, and advanced GI and radiological services as well as ancillary services such as wound care and nutrition.
