Overview

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI Carrington Health.

 

As our EMT II, you'll provide professional and compassionate care to a variety of patients encountered in a multidisciplinary pre-hospital/hospital setting.

 

You'll work with patient population groups which include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, occasionally dealing with multiple patients or population groups simultaneously. The EMT performs and documents assessments and treatments; individualizes patient care and ensures that interventions are made appropriately and according to policy; identifies needs that may include supervising the transfer of patients to a different facility or level of care.

 

 

As our EMT II, you'll provide direct patient care; administers medications within their scope of practice, utilizing the five (5) Patient Rights; identifies significant changes or high risk situations; completes all documentation in a timely manner; demonstrates knowledge and use of equipment encountered in the ambulance department or in hospital; communicates patient status at transfer of care; adjusts own workload as needed; assess, identifies, and communicates staffing needs to Ambulance Manager.

 

You're responsible for the supervision and safety of other, less trained staff, and coordinates the patient care with ancillary departments involved in either direct or indirect patient care. Treatment is accomplished through the guidelines established by the Standing Orders, Medical Director and ND State Guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional and compassionate patient care to all age groups.
    Performs and documents assessments and treatments as patient condition requires, including administering medications per protocol and starting IV’s.
  • Patient Care as needed to accurately reflect current patient needs. To ensure that interventions are made promptly, particularly when exceptions occur on patient care guidelines.
  • Provides patient care, which is appropriate to the patient diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders, following ambulance and/or hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs patient assessment and takes appropriate action according to treatment guidelines.
  • Administers Medications utilizing the 5 Rights and according to the standard operating procedure.
  • Identifies significant changes or high-risk situations in patient’s condition and takes appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting, consultations, treatment and documentation.
  • Calls for Intercept with service offering ALS interventions, and assists as needed within the EMT’s scope of practice.
  • Completes all documentation according to standard operating procedures.
  • Performs personal cares according to standard operating procedure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of location, set-up, and use of equipment and performs equipment monitoring according to standard operating procedures.
  • Communicates patient progress or status and incorporates Patient Care Guidelines, using it as a basis for concise reports to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Assists with coordination and preparation of transfer, when necessary. Assures that all paperwork and films are accompanying patient(s) for receiving facilities.
  • Complete narcotic check counts on ambulances.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, successful completion of EMT and Advanced EMT courses.

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support 
  • EMT:ND
  • NREMT
  • AEMT:ND
  • New graduates will work Paramedic and/or qualified.
  • AEMT until able to perform duties independently.
