Responsibilities

  • Ensures completeness of records prior to records being ready for Coding/Billing.
  • Works alongside IT to test our EMR and regulatory systems and maintains the templates and dot phrases for providers in and amongst other duties.
  • Utilizes thorough knowledge of assigned business and systems technology to identify and design improvements to computer-based systems. Consults with internal and external system users (e.g., vendors, VM staff) to ensure system design changes are compatible with existing processes. Devises test plans, builds test data, and tests new or enhanced application functions.
  • Conducts operational and organizational studies of assigned business units. Analyzes structure and flow of work through units and recommends changes to improve operations. Keeps abreast of relevant changes in technologies and, as appropriate, incorporates new technologies into new systems and/or system enhancements.
  • Collaborates with business unit leadership, and other parties (e.g., IS, vendors) as appropriate, in determining and implementing cost-effective solutions to business problems and/or system failures. Develops contingency plans for potential system failures.
  • Establishes project scope and timelines; works with business unit management in assigning accountabilities to project team members, and communicates changes in project scope/timeline to management and customers. Provides guidance to lower-level Business Analysts as appropriate.
  • Develops and delivers training and operating procedures. Provides formal classroom training for new applications, utilizing vendor-supplied applications (e.g., tutorials) where appropriate.
  • Resolves production problems by analyzing the cause of the error and determining the correct course of action to restart processing in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Develops specifications for enhancements and reports. May work with an assigned technician, internally or externally, or may write the necessary code.
  • Ensures the integrity of the application(s) and related data. Maintains application interfaces in collaboration with IS.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent.
  • At least five years related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong skills in using report writing applications.
  • Strong skills in conducting systems analysis, and in troubleshooting.
  • Strong project management skills, including organizational skills and aptitude for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Experience with Google (ability to convert Microsoft to Google documents), Cerner and Epic preferred.
